Common causes of hair loss in women
Hair loss is often a sign that something is not quite right in the body. Here are some of the most common causes:
1. Hormonal changes
Many women experience hair loss during pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause or PCOS. The hair follicle is strongly affected by hormonal balance – and even a small change can lead to increased hair shedding.
2. Stress
The body prioritizes survival during prolonged stress. This can cause hair growth to pause, which is noticeable as increased hair loss 2–3 months later. We often see this in clients who have been through a tough period.
3. Nutritional deficiency
Iron, zinc, biotin, vitamin D – the list is long. Hair depends on nutrition to grow strong. If the body is deficient, it is often first visible in the hair.
4. Wrong hair care routine
Harsh sulfates, silicones and synthetics can disrupt the scalp environment and dry out both hair and skin. A stressed scalp = poor hair growth.
5. Genetics
Women can also suffer from hereditary hair loss, often as a more diffuse thinning rather than patchy baldness.
What is normal to lose?
It's completely normal to lose 50-100 hairs per day . If you notice large amounts of hair collecting in the shower, on your brush or on your pillow – and your hair has become noticeably thinner – it may be time to review both your health and your hair care routine.
How to help your hair recover
💚 1. Calm the scalp – create the right growth environment
Our VÄXA series is developed together with professional hairdressers and contains, among other things, the well-documented extract Capilia Longa , extracted from turmeric. Studies show that it both reduces hair loss and increases visible hair density.
“I've tried EVERYTHING. But this is the first time I've noticed a real difference.” – Customer Review
🌿 2. Use gentle, nourishing products
Replace harsh shampoos with organic, sulfate-free shampoo bars. Ours are pH-balanced and contain natural oils that strengthen hair from the root.
✨ 3. Massage your scalp regularly
A short daily massage using the Scalp Brush (preferably in conjunction with our VÄXA Mist ) stimulates blood circulation and promotes hair follicle activity. Simple habit – big difference!
🥦 4. Review the nutrition
Eat nutrient-dense foods with a focus on protein, healthy fats, and vegetables. Supplement with supplements as needed—especially if you suspect deficiencies.
🧘♀️ 5. Reduce stress
Sleep, movement and recovery affect the entire body – including hair growth. A calm body is better able to prioritize hair.
When should you seek help?
If you experience sudden, patchy or very severe hair loss – or suspect that something is wrong with your body – you should always contact a healthcare center or dermatologist.
Summary
Hair loss is common – but it doesn’t have to be permanent. With the right support, gentle and nourishing hair care, and a little patience, you can help your hair return to its natural rhythm.
