Our story – from frustration to change

Dalarnas EKO was born out of a personal struggle.

My name is Sofie, the founder of the company – and for many years I struggled with an itchy scalp, hormonal acne, and skin that alternated between being extremely dry and oily. I spent thousands of kronor on skincare, medications, and doctor visits, to no avail.

Finally, I had enough.

As a trained nutritionist with a background in hormones, and a keen interest in how the body works both inside and out, I started creating my own products – clean, natural and tailored for sensitive skin like mine. I also live with fibromyalgia and chronic pain, which has made me extra sensitive about what I use – and what I put in my body.

After over six years of testing at home in the kitchen, I noticed not only how my skin and scalp began to recover – but also how others around me wanted the same results. Interest grew, and in January 2020 we started what was then called Almgårdens – today: Dalarnas Ekobutik Organic Cosmetics AB .

Our journey – with both success and adversity

My partner joined the company early on and was amazed by the impact of our products. In 2021, we grew rapidly, thanks to all the satisfied customers who spread the word. The following year, we became a limited company and began to scale up production.

But in 2023–2024, we faced several major challenges: a long-term inflammation and a terrible divorce took a toll on me personally, while we also experienced system crashes, logistical problems and delays. It was a tough time – for both us and our customers.

2024 was therefore a year of rebuilding. We changed systems, website and logistics partners. The move to Borlänge gave us new opportunities and we now have a larger warehouse and professional third-party logistics that ensure that your orders are packed and shipped quickly.

Dalarnas EKO manufactures natural and organic hair care products in hairdresser grade. All products are developed and tested in Sweden – with carefully selected ingredients and high standards for quality, sustainability and function.

The future – a place to long for

We dream of more than just great products. Our vision is to create a rural, hidden gem in Dalarna – a farm shop with a café, strawberry picking, homemade ice cream and fun activities for the whole family. In winter? Horse & carriage, Christmas market and piping hot mulled wine.

We want to create a place where you can recharge, shop our products directly from the source – and take both memories and well-being home with you.
